This has been a season like no other in the Premier League and that was summed up by the fact that the 2022/23 season reached a total of 1,000 goals in record time.
The 1,000th goal was scored by Raheem Sterling, with his second for Chelsea at home to Nottingham Forest.
Sterling's sumptuous strike came seconds after Eberechi Eze’s glorious second sealed a 2-0 home win for Crystal Palace against AFC Bournemouth.
The landmark was reached inside 353 matches. Only in the 2018/19 season has this mark been reached in so few matches.
That campaign set a record for total goals in a 20-team Premier League season, with 1,072 goals scored at a rate of 2.821 per match.
So far there have been 1,003 goals scored across the 353 fixtures of the season at a rate of 2.847 per match.

If the present rate for this season were maintained, the 2022/23 total would be 1,080 goals.
Last Monday, 21 goals were scored from three matches, a record total from so few fixtures in a day.
Earlier in the month, 44 goals were scored in Matchweek 10's matches, equalling a Premier League record.
