Manchester United survived a two-goal fightback from a spirited Newport County to secure a 4-2 win and advance to the FA Cup fifth-round.

Bruno Fernandes (below) and a first senior goal for United from Kobbie Mainoo put the visitors two ahead inside the first 13 minutes.

However, the League Two side pulled one back on 36 minutes through Bryn Morris' long-range effort, which glanced off Lisandro Martinez's head and past United's debutant goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

Man Utd were then stunned two minutes after the break, when Will Evans equalised to send the home supporters wild inside a packed Rodney Parade.

Erik ten Hag’s team went back in front on 68 minutes thanks to Antony, who was quickest to react after Luke Shaw’s initial effort had come back off a post.

Rasmus Hojlund's close-range finish in stoppage time sealed the victory and set up a trip to Bristol City or Nottingham Forest.

Before then, United return to Premier League action on Thursday 1st February when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Five-star Liverpool

Liverpool booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 5-2 win over Norwich City at Anfield.

In their first match since Jurgen Klopp announced he will leave the club at the end of the season, Liverpool supporters greeted their manager with a huge ovation ahead of kick-off.

When the action did get under way, Darwin Nunez struck a post before Curtis Jones headed in teenager James McConnell's cross on 16 minutes.

Norwich equalised against the run of play six minutes later through Ben Gibson, but Nunez restored the Reds’ lead just before the half hour.

Diogo Jota (below) added a third in the 53rd minute with a low shot past goalkeeper George Lang.

It was 4-1 10 minutes later, when Virgil van Dijk, left completely unmarked, headed in fellow substitute Dominik Szoboszlai's corner, before a superb Borja Sainz strike pulled one back for the visitors.

The hosts still had time for Ryan Gravenberch to nod in a final goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time to set up a meeting with either Watford or Southampton, who drew their match 1-1.

There was more good news for Liverpool, as Andy Robertson returned having been out injured since October with a dislocated shoulder suffered on international duty.

Liverpool are next in action at home to Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday 31 January.

Wolves also through

Goals in either half from Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha earned Wolves a 2-0 win at Black Country neighbours West Bromwich Albion to set up an FA Cup fifth-round tie against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Gary O'Neil only made one change from the side that drew 0-0 at Brighton in the Premier League last Monday, with Jean-Ricner Bellegarde coming in for the injured Pablo Sarabia.

Algerian Riyan Ait-Nouri was back among the substitutes after being knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations at the group stage.

Neto put Wolves in front on 38 minutes, cutting inside from the right wing on to his favoured left foot before slotting in from 20 yards to finish a swift counter-attack.

Wolves made it 2-0 with 12 minutes remaining when Cunha latched on to a long pass from Max Kilman before firing through the legs of West Brom goalkeeper Joshua Griffiths.

The match was stopped shortly after Cunha's goal due to crowd trouble, but the players returned to finish the match at The Hawthorns.

Up next for Wolves in the Premier League is a home meeting with Manchester United on Thursday.
