How midweek FA Cup results affect your FPL team

The Scout is tipping five players for big success in Gameweek 27 of Fantasy Premier League ahead of Saturday's 13:30 GMT deadline.

Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth) £7.1m

Managers should make the AFC Bournemouth forward a priority pick ahead of his upcoming Double Gameweek 28 (DGW28), providing he recovers from the knee injury that forced him to miss the midweek FA Cup defeat to Leicester City.

Bournemouth's visit to Burnley this weekend starts a run of three successive matches against promoted sides, with the Cherries entertaining both Sheffield United and Luton Town in DGW28.

That will make Solanke a top captaincy pick in DGW28 where the usual armband favourites Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Erling Haaland (£14.4m) go head-to-head in a tough match at Anfield.

The Cherries’ striker has scored 14 goals, just three behind Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot.

Having also supplied three assists, Solanke’s total of 17 goal involvements is his best ever season in Fantasy, highlighting his huge improvement in his first campaign under head coach Andoni Iraola.

Alexander Isak (Newcastle) £7.5m

A home encounter with Wolverhampton Wanderers gives the Newcastle United star the chance to return to top form.

Isak had scored in three successive matches prior to being forced off with injury against Aston Villa in Gameweek 22. Having made his comeback against Arsenal last weekend, he can be crucial to the Magpies’ prospects on Saturday afternoon.

The Swede has been involved in 48 per cent of Newcastle’s goals when selected, more than any of their regular starters.

Isak’s 21 big chances is also a team-leading total, showing why he can take advantage of a Wolves defence with only two clean sheets in 13 away matches this season.

Pascal Gross (Brighton) £6.5m

Brighton & Hove Albion’s playmaker visits Fulham in his most consistent form of 2023/24.

Gross has delivered attacking returns in each of the last four Gameweeks, producing a goal, four assists and 11 bonus points to collect 36 points.

That total was more than any Brighton team-mate and placed the German fourth among all players in Fantasy.

Gross’ 17 key passes and four big chances created in that spell were both league-leading figures.

His corners and free-kicks can prove decisive against a Fulham side who conceded 26 shots from set-pieces in that period, the third-worst tally in the league.

Declan Rice (Arsenal) £5.4m

The midfielder is enjoying his most productive season in Fantasy in terms of attacking returns. Rice’s four goals and five assists betters his previous-best of four goals and three assists for West Ham United in 2022/23.

In particular, his improved share of set-pieces has been a major weapon for the Gunners recently, with centre-backs Gabriel (£5.2m) and William Saliba (£5.7m) boasting a big threat at corners and free-kicks.

Although Rice can’t match his team-mate Bukayo Saka (£9.2m) as their go-to attacker, his low cost of just £5.4m makes him an attractive value option for Arsenal’s encounter at Sheff Utd this weekend.

Rodrigo Muniz (Fulham) £4.4m

The forward has seized his opportunity in the Fulham first XI following a recent injury to Raul Jimenez (£5.0m).

Muniz has scored four goals and collected 31 points since replacing the Mexican up front in Gameweek 23.

The underlying statistics show the Brazilian is thriving as the focal point of the Cottagers' attack. His 18 shots, four big chances and seven shots on target are all more than any other Fulham player, while his total of 16 shots in the box is at least 13 more than any team-mate.

A home match with Brighton marks the start of a kind schedule for the Cottagers, which also includes a fixture against Tottenham Hotspur in Blank Gameweek 29. At a cost of only £4.4m, Muniz can be a value gem in Fantasy over the coming Gameweeks.
