The Scout is analysing the key changes that are being made in Fantasy Premier League for the 2024/25 season.

Mystery Chip

One of the biggest changes to FPL in years is set to arrive this season.

Fantasy managers will be given a NEW CHIP in 2024/25, to go alongside the two Wildcards, the Bench Boost, the Free Hit and the Triple Captain.

At this stage, it's only known as the "Mystery Chip". The only other thing we know is that it will be revealed ahead of January 2025, so that FPL managers can plan ahead before the chip becomes playable in January.

Here's what it will look like alongside the other chips.

Excitement builds

The guessing game will now begin as to the identity of the Mystery Chip.

Could we witness a return of the All Out Attack chip, last seen in 2017? This allowed FPL managers to play a 2-5-3 formation for one week only. Or is this a completely new chip, offering unlimited funds or double points for forwards?

We asked FPL expert Sam Bonfield for her own thoughts on this new development.

"Chips are a huge part of the FPL game," she says. "Getting the chip strategy right can be the difference between winning a mini-league and coming second.

"The announcement of the Mystery Chip is really exciting. I wonder if we could see a return of one of the chips from seasons past, like my all-time favourite the All Out Attack chip?!

"If not, could it be something we have seen FPL trial in the FPL Challenge game like the limitless price week or the points for every shot?

"Whatever the new chip is, I can't wait to hear about it!"
