The Scout's panel of Fantasy Premier League experts give their thoughts on who to captain in Gameweek 3 ahead of the deadline at 11:00 BST on Saturday 31 August.

One of my main reasons for Wildcarding this week is to take advantage of the return to form of Cole Palmer (£10.5m), and Chelsea's superb run of fixtures. He will be difficult to own for those not using their Wildcard given Fantasy managers won't well to sell star players who are performing well, so I'm hoping to steal a march on the pack by aggressively playing the chip this week and giving him the armband.

Palmer is the standout captain pick against a Crystal Palace side that look a bit unsettled after Joachim Andersen (£4.5m) left to rejoin Fulham. If you do not own the Chelsea star, Erling Haaland (£15.1m) or Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) are the best options, with the Norway international marginally ahead given how well Brighton have started the season ahead of their trip to Arsenal.

Haaland is set to be my captain once again for the trip to West Ham, having scored three goals in two games at London Stadium. This decision is made easier given that I don't own Palmer or Mohamed Salah (£12.6m), who are both viable alternatives.

Haaland for me. No need to go against the in-form Norwegian, who is likely to play close to the full 90 minutes again, particularly given European midweek games haven't started yet.

I've taken a hit for Palmer, with part of the reasoning that I want to captain him this week. I expect Pedro Neto (£6.5m) and Joao Felix (£6.5m) to start, which should further boost his attacking potential.

After his hat-trick in Gameweek 2 and given his strong record at London Stadium, I am planning to hand the armband again to Haaland. If I owned Ollie Watkins (£9.0m), I would be tempted to hand him the armband this week, though, for Aston Villa's trip to promoted Leicester City.
