The Scout's panel of Fantasy Premier League experts give their thoughts on who to captain in Gameweek 10 ahead of the deadline at 11:00 GMT on Saturday 2 November.

I am torn between Erling Haaland (£15.4m) and Cole Palmer (£11.0m) this week, but right now, Palmer has the edge. He is a boyhood Manchester United fan, scored four goals in two matches against them last season and has the motivation to deliver following the recent departure of Erik ten Hag.

I'll be captaining Haaland against an AFC Bournemouth side that like to play the high line, which should play into his hands. However, if I owned Mohamed Salah (£12.7m), he'd be on the radar for sure - particularly as he's been involved in 65 per cent of Liverpool's goals so far this season when selected.

Manchester City aren't quite the same beast away from home, and both Arsenal and Chelsea struggled at Bournemouth. We know the Cherries will have a go, but that could play into City's hands, and an open football match could lead to a Haaland haul. He will likely still get the armband for me, with Palmer the only other player I'm considering.

Haaland and Salah are the two best captaincy options. Both have good fixtures on paper, although not completely straightforward. Salah has shown an ability to get good bonus points from single attacking returns, so he would be my top pick.
Oscar (@FPLFocal)
Salah would be my go-to captain if I owned him, at home to a Brighton side who are now without injured captain Lewis Dunk (£4.5m). The good news for those of us without Salah is that Haaland plays them the week after! Haaland would be my second pick for captaincy. Man City have averaged 3.75 goals per game over their last four league meetings with Bournemouth.

I would love to own Salah this week and be able to captain him, however I don't, so I am likely to leave it on Haaland, whose underlying stats last week were so impressive. He had eight shots on goal against Southampton, with four of them classed as big chances – situations where the player is expected to score – and an Expected Goals (xG) of 2.33, which is the second biggest in his Premier League career.

Salah is marginally the best captain this week. However, Haaland isn't far behind.
