The Scout's panel of Fantasy Premier League experts give their thoughts on who to captain in Gameweek 18 ahead of the deadline at 11:00 GMT on Thursday 26 December.

Lee Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

Since Ruud van Nistelrooy was appointed Leicester City manager, his side have conceded more shots and shots on target than any other team. They've also conceded nine goals in the last three gameweeks. A trip to Anfield is not what Van Nistelrooy - and his open, attacking style - would want on Boxing Day; so I'm giving the armband to Mohamed Salah (£13.5m).

With Bukayo Saka (£10.5m) out, I'll be hoping Cole Palmer (£11.3m) can have one of his sporadic hauls. Although Fulham are good, Chelsea should have two or three goals in them.

With Leicester conceding the most shots since Van Nistelrooy took over, Salah is the obvious pick this week. Alexander Isak (£9.0m) offers a great alternative if you want to go different while Erling Haaland (£14.8m) could be the differential pick this week.

Salah is the the clear choice again this week. Not only is he in red-hot form, Leicester look very open at the back. Haaland too has a great fixture home to Everton and is probably the second-best captain on paper for those that still own him.

Oscar (@FPLFocal)

Salah's 177 points after 17 Gameweeks is 50 points more of his record-breaking 303 point 2017/18 season at this stage, with a match in hand. I see no reason to look beyond Salah this week with a home fixture to Leicester, who have shown no defensive improvement under Van Nistlerooy either.

Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

After another double-digit haul in Gameweek 17, his 11th of the season, Salah looks like the best captaincy option this week. If managers want to look outside of the Egyptian then Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) and Jarrod Bowen (£7.4m), against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton respectively, are good differential options against two defences who have struggled for clean sheets this season.

Pranil Sheth (@Lateriser12)

Leicester at home is probably the best fixture in the league. Salah is simply the best asset in the game right now. Nevermind captaincy, this is a fixture where you might want to consider using your Triple Captain chip.

The vast majority of FPL managers, including myself, will be captaining Salah this week. Going for an alternative captain represents a big risk, but if you fancy one over the Christmas period, his team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m) could be a fun pick. It was five years ago on Boxing Day he got a 24-point haul against Leicester and the stage is set for another big win.

Gianni Buttice (@GianniButtice)

Salah is playing at elite levels and he's head and shoulders above the rest of the pitch. Don't over complicate it this week, even if you're chasing.

Harry Daniels (@FPL_Harry)

Gameweek 18 captaincy feels one of the easiest of the season, with Salah at home to Leicester. The only player on paper that could come close would be Haaland at home to Everton but combining his low ownership, the strong defensive numbers for Everton and Man City's form, it has to be Salah!
