The Scout's panel of Fantasy Premier League experts reveal who they are planning to captain in Blank Gameweek 29 (BGW29) ahead of the deadline at 13:30 GMT on Saturday 15 March.

This week is super exciting for the captaincy. There are a number of good candidates and in the absence of Mohamed Salah (£13.8m), it is an opportunity to think outside the box. I have my armband on Chris Wood (£7.3m), who has 18 goals and three assists in the Premier League this season. He is currently averaging 6.3 points per match, which is only bettered by Alexander Isak (£9.4m) of the regular starting forwards - and Isak won't feature in BGW29.

I think there are four real captaincy shouts this week: Wood, Erling Haaland (£14.7m), Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) and potentially Justin Kluivert (£6.2m) as well. Personally I think targeting Leicester City and Southampton is the safest option and so Fernandes is the best captain if you own him, against Leicester. I personally will not own him. Therefore I will likely end up on Wood against Ipswich Town.

Having played a slightly more defensive game in the last two Gameweeks against Arsenal and Manchester City, I'm expecting a return to goalscoring form for Nottingham Forest and Wood. He had no returns in those last two games but only blanked once in the eight preceding it, between Gameweeks 19 and 26, so he's a pretty reliable choice.

If I Free-Hit, Haaland has potential to be a great pick. If I don't use the chip, Wood might be my best choice in a week where there's no obvious captain.
Gianni Buttice (@GianniButtice)
There are four options that stand out for me this week: Fernandes, Wood, Kluivert and Haaland. I will own all of them in my Free Hit squad, and will captain Haaland.

Without Salah, we are all a bit lost on captaincy this week. I think if teams can get to Haaland, backing him in a home fixture (despite Brighton & Hove Albion's recent form) makes a lot of sense. If some teams can't get to the the Norwegian then I think Kluivert, Wood or Fernandes are all viable alternatives. I'll be going with Haaland.
