Jamaal Lascelles scored the winner for the second straight match as Newcastle United edged past Stoke City 2-1 at St James' Park.
The defender headed in a Matt Ritchie corner via a deflection off Kevin Wimmer on 68 minutes to give Newcastle their third win in a row.
Christian Atsu had given the home side the lead on 19 minutes, slotting home another Ritchie assist for his first Premier League goal.
Xherdan Shaqiri replied for Stoke on 57 minutes, controlling the ball before curling a low effort from 30 yards into the bottom corner.
Rafa Benitez, who was absent last weekend, returned to the dugout as Newcastle climbed to fourth in the table, while Stoke drop to 13th.
