Tyrone Bakinson opened the scoring as Bristol City beat Stoke City 3-1 in their opening Premier League Group G encounter at the Woodspring Stadium in Weston-super-Mare.

Eighteen-year-old Bakinson netted after 38 minutes and Rory Holden made it 2-0 to Bristol on the stroke of half-time.

Bakinson turned provider after the break when his cross found Arnold Garita to head in the third on 47 minutes.

Daniel Jarvis scored for Stoke but his effort proved only to be a consolation.

Next up in Group G for Bristol City is a trip to Liverpool on Sunday 5 November, while Stoke host Charlton Athletic two days before.
