To celebrate Brighton & Hove Albion v West Ham United being the 10,000th Premier League match, we asked past players to name their favourite.
Robert Pires
It is the stuff of dreams to hit the winner in a nine-goal thriller against your local rivals.
Robert Pires did exactly that in a remarkable north London derby in November 2004.
The Frenchman scored Arsenal’s fifth goal as Arsenal won 5-4 away against Tottenham Hotspur.
“Of course if you have the possibility to score then it’s a good moment, but the best moment is when you win the game against Spurs,” says Pires.
“This is always a special memory because the ambience and atmosphere is very special at White Hart Lane. When we won the derby it was a magic moment.”
