To celebrate Brighton & Hove Albion v West Ham United being the 10,000th Premier League match, we asked past players to name their favourite.

Owen Hargreaves

Owen Hargreaves may not have been in Manchester City’s squad on the final day of 2011/2012, but he will never forget the drama, or the celebrations.

Needing to beat Queens Park Rangers at home for their first PL title, City were 2-1 down in stoppage time.

“It just felt like the moment had really gone,” says Hargreaves, who was watching from City’s dressing room. "It didn’t feel like we were going to be able to do it.

However, Edin Dzeko equalised and Sergio Aguero scored a memorable winner in the fourth minute of time added on.

“There was just mayhem - the noise, the atmosphere, the energy, the pure excitement,” says Hargreaves. “To win it so late is what makes football so beautiful.”
