1997: Ketsbaia lands at Newcastle
Temuri Ketsbaia signed for Newcastle United on a free transfer.
The Georgia international is mostly remembered for his celebration after scoring against Bolton Wanderers. Having started on the bench, Ketsbaia was brought on and scored a last-minute winner and celebrated angrily by taking off his jersey and kicking the advertising hoardings repeatedly.
After making 78 PL appearances for the Magpies over three seasons Ketsbaia was sold to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2000.
2011: Adam signs for Liverpool
Liverpool completed the signing of Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam.
Adam joined the Reds after being nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award the previous season for an outstanding debut campaign in the Premier League,
The Scotland midfielder had impressed Liverpool with his pinpoint delivery and tenacity in the middle of the park, where he provided six assists.
He played for one season at Anfield, making 28 PL appearances and scoring twice, before moving to Stoke City.
