Brighton & Hove Albion begin life under new head coach Graham Potter with a trip to Watford, who will have good memories of facing the Seagulls on last season's opening weekend.

Team news

Gerard Deulofeu is available for Watford having shaken off a muscle injury.

Roberto Pereyra is also in contention despite making a late return to the Hornets this summer due to international commitments.

New signing Danny Welbeck will not be involved, and Javi Gracia is also without Nathaniel Chalobah, Adalberto Penaranda, Domingos Quina and Dimitri Foulquier as they continue to recover from injury.

Brighton are without Jose Izquierdo, Yves Bissouma and Ezequiel Schelotto.

Did you know?

This is the second successive season that Watford have hosted Brighton in their opening Premier League fixture. The Hornets won 2-0 last August thanks to a Roberto Pereyra double.

Watford have not lost their opening league match of a season since 2006/07. They have since won six and drawn six of their 12 opening league matches.

Brighton are winless in their last nine Premier League matches (D3 L6), with their last victory in the competition coming on 9 March at Crystal Palace.

Glenn Murray (pictured) has scored 36 per cent of Brighton’s Premier League goals, with 25 out of 69. That is the highest ratio scored by one player at any club in the competition’s history.
