A second-half goal from Jayden Mitchell-Lawson proved the difference as Derby County beat Southampton 1-0 in Premier League 2 Division 1.
Daniel N'Lundulu almost put Southampton ahead in the fifth minute but his effort came back off the post.
It was soon Derby's turn to strike the woodwork, as Mitchell-Lawson beat goalkeeper Jack Bycroft, but was kept out by the crossbar.
The Rams took the lead shortly before the hour, when Mitchell-Lawson finished after Morgan Whittaker had headed a cross back across goal.
Derby move up to sixth place, level on three points with Southampton, who are a place better off.
