As Fantasy Premier League managers make their plans for Gameweek 31 and beyond, the big question is what to do with Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.4m).

The Liverpool defender is recovering from a hamstring injury and is doubt for Saturday’s juicy home fixture against Watford, while the Reds’ following Premier League match is as tough as it gets, away to Manchester City.
As a result, Alexander-Arnold has been the most-sold player during the international break. But FPL expert Az Phillips has a word of caution for anyone considering going down the same road.
“I would never want to sell him personally,” says Az in the latest episode of the FPL Show. “The only caveat is that you’ve got lots of other premium defenders who also look good.

“You’ve got [Andrew] Robertson, who’s been outscoring him lately. You’ve got Joao Cancelo, who’s been absolutely incredible and has Burnley next, then a really good run of fixtures. Reece James could be back.
“If people are moving [Trent] to one of those players, there’s only eight weeks left and if you think a player is going to miss a couple of games, and one of those is Man City coming up as well, maybe you could get points elsewhere.
“I’ll be hanging on to him. Because Burnley have got all these games, you can bench him and get away with playing a [Connor] Roberts or [James] Tarkowski, because they’ve got two Doubles in three weeks, and Norwich.”
Az’s fellow FPL expert Gianni Buttice agrees with that strategy, adding: “If I was selling Trent I know I’d want to bring him back. That’s what your bench is for.”
