The Scout's panel of Fantasy Premier League experts are revealing their current 15-man squads ahead of the Gameweek 1 deadline on Friday 16 August at 18:30 BST.

Goalkeepers

Dean Henderson (£4.5m): The goalkeeper has established himself as Crystal Palace’s No 1 under Oliver Glasner. Last season he averaged 3.8 points per match under the Austrian.

Matt Turner (£4.0m): To save budget I’m picking a £4.0m goalkeeper who I’m unlikely to play. Currently, it’s Nottingham Forest’s Turner, although his ownership is high, so I am mindful that he could drop in price if lots of managers sell him over the opening Gameweeks, which would hurt my team value.

Defenders

Josko Gvardiol (£6.0m): With several massive double-digit hauls towards the end of last season, Gvardiol was one of the first names on my teamsheet.

Gabriel (£6.0m): Once again Gabriel is my Arsenal defender of choice. The defender carries more goal threat than team-mate William Saliba (£6.0m), racking up 31 goal attempts last season to Saliba’s 10.

Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.5m): I’m expecting Everton to be pretty solid this season as they continue to implement Sean Dyche’s philosophy, so I’ve picked Mykolenko as one of my £4.5m defenders.

Ezri Konsa (£4.5m): He rotates well with Mykolenko and Gabriel in particular and should provide good value.

Valentin Barco (£4.0m): Barco has been taking a lot of Brighton's set-pieces during pre-season, and with Pervis Estupinan (£5.0m) still out injured, looks a great £4.0m option.

Midfielders

Diogo Jota (£7.5m): With a shot accuracy rate of 46.3 per cent and a goal conversion rate of 24.4 per cent last season, I’m backing Jota to be Arne Slot’s No 9 this season. Add in his immense work-rate and he carries many of the characteristics Slot will be looking for in that position.

Eberechi Eze (£7.0m): With Michael Olise now at Bayern Munich, Palace will rely more heavily than ever on Eze. He’ll be their talisman, and as far as we know, will be their penalty-taker.

Christopher Nkunku (£6.5m): I am expecting the Chelsea midfielder to make a mockery of his £6.5m price tag, assuming he can stay fit under new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca. Nkunku has looked good in pre-season, registering three goals and an assist. He has also played 398 minutes, more than any other Blues player this summer.

Brennan Johnson (£6.5m): I’d like a piece of the Spurs attack for the new season - and I’m currently going with Johnson. But I may rethink before Gameweek 1 if Ange Postecoglou brings in a new striker, as that would likely impact Johnson's minutes.

Morgan Rogers (£5.0m): My cheap midfielder is Rogers, who showed some very promising signs at the end of last season. He has returned three goals and two assists in pre-season and played more minutes than any other Aston Villa player.

Forwards

Erling Haaland (£15.0m): The most expensive player in the game makes my current squad. I was contemplating going without the Norwegian, but his pre-season form (including a hat-trick against Gameweek 1 opponents Chelsea) has locked him in.

Alexander Isak (£8.5m): The Swede is currently 55 per cent-owned, and it’s easy to see why. He had the summer off and is the focal point of the Newcastle attack. The favourable fixtures to start the season are the icing on the cake.

Joao Pedro (£5.5m): Another penalty-taker, and one who has a wealth of creative talent around him, including Yankuba Minteh (£5.5m), who himself is a decent pick in midfield, should you want a piece of the Brighton attack.
