The Egyptian’s strike that helped to seal the win at Portman Road was his ninth on the opening weekend of a Premier League season, taking him above a group of legends.

His family fled Iraq at the start of the century when it was at war and Al-Hamadi was one year old. By coincidence, his family went to live in Liverpool, where he grew up. 

In making his appearance, he took the number of nations represented in the 32 years of the Premier League to 124.
