Erling Haaland (£15.4m) will obviously be the go-to forward, even with just one goal in the last four matches. However, if going big in the middle is your priority then there are a number of excellent budget options that would allow that to happen. Matheus Cunha (£6.5m), Chris Wood (£6.4m) and Raul Jimenez (£5.7m) all have excellent form and could be the perfect options to allow for a heavy premium midfield.

Holly Shand (@HollyShand)

I still think owning Haaland is the optimal strategy in FPL right now, and given his capability to explode, he will remain my captain in most Gameweeks. Wood is also essential given his scoring form, with the underlying numbers suggesting that he has the pedigree to keep those returns going. I'd actually add Yoane Wissa (£5.9m) as the third pick here; team-mate Bryan Mbeumo (£7.7m) is now a template pick, but you can add the 3.9 per cent-owned Wissa as a differential to capitalise on Brentford's good form and upcoming fixtures.

Nick Harris (@WGTA_Nick)

Haaland has been a frustrating hold for the last few weeks, but he still has explosive potential, so I will be holding. In terms of other forwards, Wood has shown remarkable consistency for a Nottingham Forest team that has been exceeding expectations and is a decent price, so he's the perfect second forward. Cunha would be my third pick, given he has been among the goals too this season, while Wolves have some incredible fixtures coming up, with only one of their next eight fixtures scoring higher than two in the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR).

Wolves' fixtures GW10-17
GW Opp. FDR*
10 Crystal Palace (H) 2
11 Southampton (H) 2
12 Fulham (A) 3
13 Bournemouth (H) 2
14 Everton (A) 2
15 West Ham (A) 2
16 Ipswich (H) 2
17 Leicester (A) 2

*1 = easiest possible fixture, 5 = hardest possible fixture

Gianni Buttice (@GianniButtice)

Haaland still feels like a long-term hold for me and I have no plans to sell. Alongside him I would be looking to own two low-priced options to ensure I have most of my spend in midfield. Wood’s form is hard to ignore and alongside him I would be tempted to punt on the three per cent-owned Cunha, who has an outstanding fixture run, good underlying numbers and penalty duties at Wolves.

Pras (@Pras_FPL)

Cheap forwards are having their time in the sun. The two Wolves forwards, in Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen (£5.5m), with excellent fixtures, Jimenez, with form and possibly penalty duties, and Wood are all great options. Until other forwards in the £7.0-£9.0m price range put their hand up, I can see people moving to a Haaland and two cheap strikers set-up.

Harry Daniels (@FPL_Harry)

There are a lot of cheap forwards performing well at the moment, which does open the debate of going without Haaland. Currently, Haaland, Wood and Cunha are my favourite forwards, but from Gameweek 12, Chelsea have great fixtures, and Nicolas Jackson (£7.9m) could be another good option!

Oscar (@FPLFocal)

Haaland would still be my top pick - I plan to hold after he was incredibly unlucky not to come away with more points against Southampton. My next favourite forwards are Cunha, Wood and Wissa. I've got Wood in my team and he's been fantastic, however I'd only buy him now if you have another player to rotate in for him for when Forest travel to Arsenal and Manchester City. Cunha is someone I'm looking to buy in the near future because Wolves have incredible long-term fixtures. Wissa has only blanked in one start this season, against Liverpool, and still has the fixtures to continue delivering.

Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

Haaland remains my top forward pick. The underlining numbers suggest that he will continue to perform well. Cunha and Wolves are embarking on a nice run of fixtures and he is in great form, with four goals from his 28 attempts against very tough opposition to date, while he is also top for Expected Assists across the forwards this season. Finally, I like Wissa. Before his injury, he only blanked once across the opening four Gameweeks, while he produced a double-digit haul in his first start back in Gameweek 9.
