Erling Haaland has called Pep Guardiola the best manager in the world and probably the best who ever existed as the Manchester City boss extends his stay at the Premier League champions.
Guardiola has claimed six Premier League titles at Man City since joining them in the summer of 2016, including an unprecedented current run of four in a row.
Two of those titles have been with Haaland, who joined in the summer of 2022 and has become the most prolific striker in the Premier League. Since signing the striker has led the Premier League scoring charts in both seasons, with a record 36 goals in 2022/23, followed by 27 in 2023/24. Haaland is continuing this form in 2024/25, with a league-leading 12 goals.
“He is the best manager in the world,” Haaland told Sky Sports News. “Probably the best manager who ever existed on the earth.
“I expected lots of things from him, and he has been delivering up to this every single second. So I am super-happy and you can see that when I am playing.”

Guardiola has just signed a new two-year contract to replace the one that expires at the end of this season. The new deal will take the Spaniard through to beyond a decade at City.
However, he prepares his team for Saturday’s visit of Tottenham Hotspur in Matchweek 12 in the Premier League in the middle of a run of poor form that he has never suffered before as a coach.
In all competitions, Man City have lost four matches in a row: two in the league, going down 2-0 at AFC Bournemouth and 2-1 at Brighton & Hove Albion; one in the EFL Cup at Spurs; and one in the UEFA Champions League at Sporting.
They still remain second in the table, albeit five points behind runaway leaders Liverpool.
