Nampalys Mendy has become Leicester City’s third summer signing after the Premier League champions agreed a deal with Nice.
The 24-year-old midfielder moves to the King Power Stadium on a four-year contract, with the move subject to Premier League and Football Association approval.
Mendy follows Ron Robert-Zieler, a goalkeeper, and Luis Hernandez, a defender, in moving to Leicester having played a pivotal role in Nice's fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 last season.
The central midfielder will be reunited with Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri, with whom he played at Monaco in 2012/13.
"I am very happy to come to Leicester City," Mendy told lcfc.com. "The team have just enjoyed a great season and it’s excellent to be here.
“For me I want to play at this level. I like the Premier League and I follow every match. It’s fast and physical and I want to impose myself on the league.
“I know the coach [Ranieri], I know his mentality and I know his philosophy. When he speaks it’s direct and clear and for me I like this."
Mendy played every league match in 2015/16, under Claude Puel, whom he will now face since his coach has become the new Southampton manager.
He has appeared 200 times in three seasons at Nice, also playing for France at Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 levels.
Mendy could make his debut for Leicester in a pre-season friendly against Oxford United on 19 July, while their first match of their Premier League title defence is at Hull City on Saturday 13 August.
