The FA have confirmed that Manchester City's Sergio Aguero (£13.1m) will serve a three-match ban after being found guilty of violent conduct.
This follows an incident with West Ham United's Winston Reid (£5.0m) in Sunday afternoon's encounter at the Etihad Stadium.
Aguero will now miss the Manchester derby on Saturday 10 September, as well as the home match with AFC Bournemouth and an EFL Cup trip to Swansea City on 20 September.
He would then be available for selection for City's Gameweek 6 visit to the Liberty Stadium four days later.
Having pulled out of international duties with a calf complaint, Aguero has already been sold by over 150,000 Fantasy Premier League managers since the weekend.
Still sitting in 49% of squads, he's second only to Zlatan Ibrahimovic (£11.7m, 57% TSB) in popularity after producing three goals and six bonus points in the first three Gameweeks.
The FPL transfer market could now go into overdrive as managers seek a solution to Aguero's absence and there are a number of striker candidates queuing to replace him in our squads.
Chelsea's Diego Costa (£9.6m) has returned points in each of his three outings under Antonio Conte and heads the queue for in-form replacements up front.
Like Costa, Alvaro Negredo (£6.9m) and Jermain Defoe (£7.1m) have both scored twice in the opening three Gameweeks.
Everton's Romelu Lukaku (£9.0m) and Christian Benteke (£7.4m) of Crystal Palace both have favourable upcoming schedules to profit from.
With funds available to strengthen due to Aguero's hefty outlay, FPL managers could also look to invest in midfield in light of the weekend's action.
The premium priced Eden Hazard (£10.2m) and Alexis Sanchez (£10.9m) both registered double-figure hauls on Saturday and will look more affordable for managers with cash to spare.
Similarly, Aguero's team-mate Raheem Sterling (£8.2m) is a hot property and is second only to Hazard for transfers in this week after his weekend two-goal salvo against Slaven Bilic's side.
