Brentford denied Tottenham Hotspur a return to the top four as they claimed a goalless draw, with Ivan Toney twice denied by the woodwork.
After seeing Arsenal go above them with a 3-1 win over Manchester United earlier in the day, Spurs failed to register a shot on target for the second successive match.
Toney came closest to a first-half goal, as his powerful header from a corner hit the bar on 19 minutes.
Brentford created two chances just past the hour, Harry Kane clearing a Pontus Jansson header off the line before Christian Eriksen's low effort was kept out by Hugo Lloris.
Toney's header hit a post in stoppage time before Kane's bicycle-kick went narrowly wide at the other end.
Spurs are fifth on 58 points, two behind Arsenal. Brentford, who are unbeaten in four, stay 11th with 40 points from 34 matches.
