Aston Villa have announced the double signing of Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior from Juventus.
The two players join Villa after Douglas Luiz moved in the other direction, going to Juventus on Sunday, ending his five-year spell at Villa Park.
Barrenechea is a 23-year-old who can play at centre-back or as a defensive midfielder.
The Argentinian started his career at Newell's Old Boys and spent four years as a Juventus player but made only three appearances. Last season he was on loan at Frosinone, playing 36 times in Serie A.
Iling-Junior is a versatile player who can play anywhere on the left. He was born in London and started his career in Chelsea's academy, joining Juventus in 2020.
He played 36 times for Juventus, scoring two goals, and has two goals in five appearances for England Under-21s.
“I always want to put on a show for the team, dribbling and getting them [the fans] excited," Iling-Junior told Villa's official website.
“I want to improve as a player and break into the team as quickly as possible. The manager’s developed a lot of players, so I want to work closely with him and push on.”
Both players have experience of playing in the UEFA Champions League, which Villa will play in this season for the first time in their history.
Villa's 2024/25 preparations
Villa have now signed four players this summer, with Barrenechea and Iling-Junior following Lewis Dobbin and Ian Maatsen to Villa Park.
Villa's first pre-season match ahead of 2024/25 is on 20 July against Spartak Trnava.
They kick off their Premier League campaign at West Ham United on Saturday 17 August.
