Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) has become just the fourth player to surpass 2,000 career points in Fantasy Premier League.
The Egyptian needed just three points to reach the outstanding milestone, and he did so in style scoring both goals in Liverpool's 2-0 win over AFC Bournemouth for a 16-point return. It was the 81st double-figure haul of his career.
Salah joins an exclusive club of Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard as the only players to surpass 2,000 points since Fantasy began in 2002/03.
All-time points top 10
Player | Points |
---|---|
Wayne Rooney | 2,338 |
Frank Lampard | 2,318 |
Steven Gerrard | 2,044 |
Mohamed Salah | 2,013 |
Petr Cech | 1,908 |
John Terry | 1,908 |
Harry Kane | 1,891 |
James Milner | 1,877 |
Raheem Sterling | 1,840 |
Gareth Barry | 1,727 |
Impressively, Salah has reached the landmark total in just 286 appearances.
At the top of the table, Rooney, who made his Premier League debut in Fantasy's inaugural season, racked up 491 appearances over his career. Lampard, in second, played 424 times in Fantasy and Gerrard featured on 402 occasions.
Salah has also made the end-of-season Dream Team more often than his rivals.
The current campaign is set to be his eighth successive appearance, double Rooney's total and one more than Lampard who, along with Harry Kane, is the only other player to be included seven times or more.
Since his debut in Gameweek 25 of the 2013/14 season, Salah has scored 178 goals, supplied 93 assists, and earned 209 bonus points.
He needs only 32 points to overtake Steven Gerrard to become Liverpool's leading player in Fantasy, something which could happen this season. However, it would take a new contract for Salah to surpass Rooney as Fantasy's all-time leading points scorer as he is currently 326 points behind him and only has 15 matches remaining in 2024/25.
With that said, if Salah maintains an average of 4.4 points per game for the rest of the season, he will break the record for the most points in a campaign, a record he set in 2017/18 Fantasy when he finished on 303 points.
