Luke Shaw and Ashley Young both successfully returned from long-term injuries to help Manchester United draw 1-1 against Swansea City in Premier League 2 Division 1.
The pair were subbed off after 58 minutes, in front of more than 2,000 fans at Leigh Sports Village, having both been out for almost four months.
But it was promoted Swansea who took the lead with 53 minutes gone, when Kenji Gorre found the net from the edge of the penalty area.
Demi Mitchell’s strike thumped off the crossbar as Man Utd pushed for a leveller, and their pressure was rewarded when Indy Boonen scored with a close-range finish.
Man Utd visit Tottenham Hotspur on Friday 25 August in their next PL2 match, while Swansea visit West Ham United two days later.
