A Ben Godfrey own goal and a second-half penalty by Jorginho maintained Chelsea's unbeaten run under Thomas Tuchel with a 2-0 win against Everton at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea took the lead after 31 minutes when Kai Havertz’s flicked shot from Marcos Alonso's low cross ricocheted off Godfrey and into the net.
Jordan Pickford denied Chelsea a second four minutes before half-time, palming Alonso's effort past the post after the defender raced through on goal.
Alonso saw his curling left-footed free-kick tipped over by Pickford before Richarlison blazed wide of the upright for Everton as match opened up.
Chelsea doubled their advantage from the penalty spot on 65 minutes when Jorginho sent Pickford the wrong way after the Everton goalkeeper had been penalised for a foul on Havertz.
Timo Werner squandered two chances late on but Chelsea saw out the win as Tuchel became the first head coach in Premier League history to guide his side to five clean sheets in each of his first five home matches in charge.
The win takes fourth-placed Chelsea up to 50 points, four clear of Everton in sixth.
