Goals from Luke Charman and Victor Fernandez handed Newcastle United a 2-0 win at 10-man Sunderland in the Premier League 2 Division 2 Tyne-Wear derby.
Charman's penalty put the Magpies in front on seven minutes after Fernandez had been brought down by Bali Mumba.
The situation got worse for Sunderland in the 24th minute when Brandon Taylor was sent off after he handled the ball to prevent Charman getting through.
On 72 minutes, Newcastle doubled their lead through Fernandez, who fired in after being found by captain Lewis Cass.
Newcastle are up to ninth with nine points, while Sunderland remain without a win and are bottom with a point.
